Rockwall Jacket Athletes of the Month

Each month, the Jacket Backers, Rockwall High School’s Booster Club selects student athletes who are nominated by their coach for Jacket Athlete of the Month.  For the month of September, Tyler Ashworth, Kate Avery and River Hill were each nominated by their coaches and selected as Jacket Athletes of the Month.

Tyler Ashworth, Senior Defensive Back for Jacket Football had 33 tackles, one interception, and a caused fumble in our four games in September.  Tyler has been a leader on our defense this month.  He's been consistent in every game, and he's maintained straight A's through the first grading period and has been a stalwart of the Yellowjacket defense in 2019.

Kate Avery, Senior Cross-Country Runner has placed in the top 15 in all of her races with the exception of 1.  She has a personal best for the year of 18:49.  She has been an amazing leader for her teammates and is the top finisher in 4 of the 7 races this year.  “I wish all my athletes worked as hard with the attitude and ferocity that Kate does!” states Coach Howell.

River Hill, Junior Cross-Country Runner has been the top finisher on the boy’s team the whole season.  He has placed in the top 7 in all his races except 1.  He has a personal record for the season of 16:08 but he is also the current school record holder at 15:29.  “River is a runner that always everything out on the race.  When he finishes you know he has spent all of his energy on the race.  He hates to be outrun.” Adds Coach Howell.
