NOVEMBER JACKET ATHLETES OF THE MONTH

Volleyball – Claire Lowrey, Senior Middle Blocker

Claire was selected 1st Team All-District.  She helped lead the team to the Regional Semi-Finals.  This the furthest any Rockwall HS volleyball team has gone in the state play-offs.

Men’s Gymnastics – Trey Lopez, Junior All-Arounder

Trey was the top All Around competitor for our first meet of the season.  He currently ranks number 2 in the state.  Trey has also stepped up to take on a bigger role in helping and supporting his teammates this year.  With a team as numerous as ours, we need our upperclassmen to help motivate and push each other.  Trey brings energy to his workouts and his teammates.  Trey scored three perfect 10.0's at the first meet of the season (Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars).  Congratulations to Trey!

Women’s Gymnastics – Haylee Finley, Sophomore All-Arounder

Haylee is currently ranked 6th on vault, 3rd on beam, and 3rd in the all-around in the state.  Haylee is one of our most dedicated, hard-working gymnasts.  She is selfless and driven to be the best she can be for her team.  We are super proud of Haylee and look forward to watching her this season!

Girls Basketball – Lola Buraimo, Senior

Lola Buraimo is the captain that has helped lead this team to 4 straight wins in a row.  She averages 11.2 points per game and 7.8 rebounds a game.  She brings so much energy and hustle to the court that demands others to work harder.  Lola is a great leader, has high character, plays with heart, and truly loves her teammates.  She has a serenity about her that can calm any storm and lead others to rise above the adversity set before them.  Lola is a true believer in JFND!

Boys Basketball – Dylan Gilbert, Senior

Dylan Gilbert is a senior captain for the basketball team.  He scores 10 points per game and is leading the team with 7 charges.  Dylan also is a great student in the classroom with a 4.25 GPA.  He is always encouraging, teaching, and reinforcing his teammates.

Football – Jacob Rhodes, Senior

Jacob has been instrumental in our success this year as a football team.  He served as a member of our leadership council and has been a rock both on and off the field.  Jacob was the Offensive Player of the Week in the final playoff game against Waxahachie.  He is a versatile player who plays with a great amount of detail and technique.  He is like having another coach on the field.  Off the field, he exudes character.  When it comes to being an ambassador to Rockwall football, there is no one better than Jacob.  He gives great effort in everything that he does and has an incredible heart for the people around him.  He is the definition of a servant leader.

Men’s Wrestling – Diego Barron, Junior
Diego started off his 22-23 campaign with a tournament championship at a tough Westmoore, Oklahoma tournament. Diego is the only men’s Rockwall High wrestler to ever win that event. Many top ranked opponents from Oklahoma were in attendance. He also won his match at the Lovejoy dual and helped his team beat returning 5A state champions Lovejoy in a landslide 33-7.

Women’s Wrestling – Audree Willess, Junior
Audree competed at the Westmoore, Oklahoma tournament securing a tournament title! She also traveled to Kansas City, Missouri and won a tough wrestling event there. She is having a fantastic start to her Junior campaign.

Women’s Swim – Myra Cansler & Ava Langston
Both Myra and Ava had great swims at the TISCA Meet in Mansfield.  Ava had best swims in the 200 Free and 500 Free on final.  Myra had great finals swims as well.  She did a great job in the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke.  Both are looking to have a great season.
