Each month, the Jacket Backers, Rockwall High School’s
Booster Club selects student athletes who are nominated by their coach for
Jacket Athlete of the Month. For the
month of November, Zach Henry, Aaron Cory, Elise Samples, Reece Mcllroy, Jordan
Mathis, Sean DelMonte and Elizabeth Duvall, were each nominated by their
coaches and selected as Jacket Athletes of the Month.
Zach Henry- Zach,
a Junior Running Back rushed for 311 yards and scored 6 total touchdowns in
three November football games for the Jackets.
Zach's 118 yards rushing is the most allowed by a single player versus
Allen in 2018. The next highest total
was 109 yards by EJ Smith of Jesuit - the son of Emmitt Smith. “Zach Henry was an offensive catalyst
for our great month of November, in which our offense averaged 44 points per
game” states, Coach Rodney Webb.
Aaron Cory- Aaron
with Men’s Gymnastics scored a perfect 10.0 on High Bar and a 9.8 on
Vault. These two scores counted towards
the team score to make a team score of 174.6 which ranks 1st place in the
state. Aaron is also one of
two team captains as voted on by his peers.
His daily efforts and drive have helped prepare one of the best
gymnastics teams we have ever had here at Rockwall High School. “Congratulations
to Aaron on his 10.0 high bar routine.
I'm always happy to see hard work and dedication get rewarded in a big
way” shares Coach Cameron Sweny.
Elise Samples- Freshman
Female Swimmer, had the best times in multiple events for the Lone Start TISCA
Invite. “She is a gentle, great person
and teammate. She's a monster during
swim practice. By training hard at every single practice, she's become one of
the most versatile swimmers on the girl’s team.
At our district meet she could swim in any event and score for our team”
adds Coach David Partenheimer.
Reece McIlroy- a
Senior Male Swimmer, had the best times at Lone Star TISCA Meet. “He's our team captain. He leads best by example. Younger swimmers look up to him and see that
it takes a lot of work to accomplish you goals.
When I first arrived in Rockwall, he was my only RHS swim team male
captain. That alone says a lot about
him” states Partenheimer.
Jordan Mathis- Senior,
Female Girls Basketball earned All-tournament Team in Flower Mound Knights of
Columbus Tournament. Jordan is the captain of the Lady Jacket basketball team
and helped them to a 7-2 start and 5th place finish in the Flower Mound
tournament. She leads the team in points
averaging 15.2 ppg and rebounds 9.3ppg.
She has had 5 double-double games.
“Jordan continues to exceed our expectations of her. As a program, we have relied on her to shut
down some of the top offensive threats in the state of Texas, and has met those
expectations being named Defensive-MVP of our district for the last 2
years. She is role model on and off the
court exhibiting leadership, character, heart, hard work, and unity everywhere
she goes. She leaves places better than
she found it” exclaims Coach Kasie Brewer.
Sean DelMonte- a
Senior Wrestler for Men’s wrestling. Sean went 3-0 in capturing the Hawk
Invitational title and then followed up going 3-0 in duals against Lake Highlands,
Dallas skyline, and Dallas Jesuit. “Sean had a good first week of the season
going 6-0. He is continuing to work towards another state title” says Coach Brent
Pohorsky.
Elizabeth Duvall- a
Freshman Female Wrestler. Elizabeth
finished 4th at the Hawk invitational. She
is a dual sport athlete, she is currently competing on the Varsity Gymnastics
squad. “Elizabeth is a busy person.
She competes in both wrestling and gymnastics. She is dedicated and works hard
at both” states Pohorsky.
