Rockwall Fans have another group of athletes they can celebrate! Rockwall High School was represented in 5 events in Austin at the UIL 6A State Track & Field Championships (4 events for the girls and 1 event for the boys)
Keviah Ealy won the long jump which was the first gold medal since 2004. Claire Lowrey, only a Sophomore, took the bronze medal by placing third in the high jump. Sam Alves came in 3rd place in the 110 M. Hurdles. Sam also beat Ryan Glaze's record of 13.90 seconds by running a new record time of 13.75 seconds. “This is one of the oldest records we had standing at RHS” according to Coach William McCrary. Amaya Turner finished 5th in the 400 Meter Dash. The girls 4x400 Relay placed 5th. This group consisted of Amaya Turner, Olivia Lowrey, Emma Santoro, Olivia Cade, alternates Elizabeth Laurence and Samantha Gillock.
While many students across Texas are looking at the clock
watching the final days of the calendar come to a conclusion so they can start
their summer; these Student-Athletes have been balancing both schoolwork and
training for their events. This is a
year around commitment to be able to compete with the best athletes around the
State. And the results look pretty
impressive. Congratulations to all of
the UIL 6A State Track & Field participants! Way to represent the Orange!
